Dendritic Agate Earrings

Dendritic Agate set in 18kt yellow gold and sterling silver. 24kt foil is behind the agate to bring a golden glow to the stone. Each earring is separately carved in wax and cast and adorned with two 1.5 mm diamonds bezeled in 18kt. The ear wires are 18kt as well. Each earring weighs 5.3 grams. Length 2 3/4” x 1/2”

Dendritic Agate. The term “dendritic” itself is derived from the Greek word “dendron,” meaning tree. These dendritic formations are mineral deposits, usually of manganese or iron oxide, that have worked their way into the fine cracks and fissures of the agate during its formation.

Gardening is a passion for me and I come from a long line of gardeners on my mother’s side. So it was natural I bring nature to my pieces. Often I abstract the imagery and a pattern will become the band of a ring or the texture on a pendant. My fascination with historical jewelry finds its way into my pieces as well.
I hand carve my tiny pieces out of wax and cast them in the lost wax casting process. They are then hand constructed with various metals and unusual stones.
